Hennessy - Crafted Light
As a drop of condensation on a soda bottle provokes thirst, the golden light refraction of the cognac through the bottom of the snifter glass evokes a sense of rich luxury. To recreate that effect digitally, my team went through challenging, yet rewarding, mechanical R&D and motion design exploration using a modern “persistence of vision” technique.
To help MPC provide a more responsive service to their clients on social media platforms, I came up with the concept for ACE (Animated Character Engine), an application we developed to help brands enhance audience engagement.
ACE allows brands to generate content with their brand mascots effortlessly, through hundreds of animations, changeable scene backgrounds and images/video exporting.
TalkTalk / The X Factor
Building on the success of ‘Mix Off’ in 2014, we worked closely with CHI&Partners to shift the concept, but keep it as entertaining and premium as possible. We ended up with BopHeads, which proved to be a complex technical challenge, given the face swapping going on. Regardless, we managed to make it fun, easy to use, and the quickest way to actually get featured on TV during the X Factor breaks.
CHI - Free Our Voices
The Kennedy's approached MPC with the idea that people could pledge their support to the campaign through personalised images created through voice recognition. That inspired me to develop a three-pronged solution where people could convey their individuality through their own signatures, which were transformed by the sound of their voice. Winner of Site of the Day on FWA, and a Brand Republic Digital award.
MPC - Blizzard Wizard
I came up with the idea for an internal installation that allowed people to make it snow, so we'd spread some holiday spirit. I developed a software and hardware solution that achieved just that via gesture recognition. Covering one's eyes, would trigger the snow cannons and make it snow!
British Airways - 12 Days of Christmas
For Christmas 2013, MPC helped Ogilvy launch BA's Christmas campaign. I was responsible for Creative Direction across 3D, motion and UI design. I was also responsible for the Technical Direction, managing the front-end and back-end developers.
Glug London presents MPC
In October 2013, MPC was invited to present at Glug London. I was part of a 3-man team presenting our work.
You can watch my presentation by playing the video below.
Rob and Nick Carter, Diptych
Transforming Diptych (2013) brings to life a pair of still life paintings by Justus Juncker from 1765. For this, Rob and Nick Carter worked closely with MPC to digitally recreate the original paintings.
I was responsible for the Technical Direction of the app, created to run on the framed iPads.
Cannes was fast approaching this year, and we decided to have some fun with it at MPC.
I came up with the concept for the app and was responsible for creative and technical direction, as well as most of the development (for fun).
I led the efforts to create a new website for MPC, which I concepted, presented to stakeholders globally and made sure was completed within budget.
I was also responsible for creative and technical direction.
O2 - Things are changing
As the Creative Tech Director at VCCP, I helped the devs create this rich experience for O2. Particularly by developing a Flash module to handle speech input, convert it to the right format and send it to the server for interpreting. This enabled the voice-controlled navigation, which was a world 1st. It won SOTD at FWA.
O2 - World of possibilities
I helped prototype and create an advanced augmented reality application for O2 stores, where users were able to discover the main services from O2 by opening a leaflet in front of the app.
There was no marker on the leaflet and the real-time 3D had a high resolution with nice, polished textures.
I created an application that allows a user to control any 3D character with their own face and body movements.
In this video, you can see how face movements captured by a standard webcam, are reflected in real-time on the (very basic) 3D character on the left.
Sunday Times - Social List
The Social List allowed users to sign up with their social networks and get a summary of all their social activity.
I worked on the concept, developed the scoring algorithm and the initial prototypes.
After the project was approved, I managed the developments teams as Creative Tech Director.
Hiscox - BIBA
An interactive installation powered by a Microsoft Kinect hack which allowed users to interact through gestures. I was responsible for the concept, creative direction and overseeing the development.
de Bijenkorf - Mobile app
Whilst freelancing at Marvellous (now Isobar Mobile), I was one of 2 developers working on this iMagazine for De Bijenkorf, which showcased their collections and products. Built to run on all devices and browsers, the app also integrated with the ecommerce site, allowing for effortless purchasing.
An iPhone App I developed, which features artwork by Diogo Machado and sound fx by Dj Ride. Essentially an iOS wallpaper generator, with social capabilities for sharing.
CIN Color Lab Spy
I developed this iPhone App, which allows you to match any colour to the CIN catalogue, get complementary colours, save your favourites, browse the full catalogue and nearby stores.
